Multitudes of players Call of Duty: Warzone are unfortunately familiar with hackers and cheaters. Unfortunately, the game has had a cheater problem since launch, and it looks like those cheats are now getting a bit more creative.
Usually in first person shooter games like Call of Duty: Warzone, players are seeing hacks aimed at things like seeing through walls or clearing incoming damage. However, at least one player is now scoring dozens of kills through an unusual melee cheat.
As shared on Reddit by Call of Duty: Warzone Rip-Falcon player, the new hack is baffling. The gameplay clip begins with the user’s team talking to the obvious hacker, as the player would have 40 kills in a single round. Throughout the clip, users discuss the cheater, while teammate after teammate is killed and mixed into the gulag. However, despite knowing a cheater was there, they were still caught off guard when the cheater comes looking for them.
While standing on a high cliff, they look down and see the cheater below them. After exchanging fire, they retreat, lying in wait. Although they might have had a chance to take them by surprise when they went over the edge, instead the player is themselves taken by surprise, with the cheater suddenly launching himself over the edge and moving towards them at absurdly fast speeds before taking them down with their melee attack.
After the player dies, it becomes clear what is happening. the war zone killcam switches to the cheater, where the player can see it quickly dashes down the side of the cliff crushing the melee attack. The forward momentum that is usually part of melee attacks, which allows players to move to kill when there is a certain distance between them and their target, appears to have been changed. The increased forward momentum allows them to quickly ramp up the side, then move in to kill before an opposing player even has time to react.
Although publisher Activision has taken steps to try to combat the problem of cheaters, most notably with the introduction of the Ricochet anti-cheat system, cheaters like these can still be found in games. It’s unclear if this particular cheat was used to circumvent the system’s automatic cheat detection or not, or if the player was simply trying something different. Either way, auto-aim and wall hacks are only part of the cheating problem in Call of Duty: Warzone. Fans hope that Call of Duty: Warzone 2the eventual release of will learn from the fight against cheaters in war zone, but anyone can guess at this point. Either way, players are extremely upset to see yet another example of cheating in the game this far into its lifecycle.
Call of Duty: Warzone is now available for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
