If you’ve ever taken a yoga class or practiced at home, you know how slippery things can get. As soon as you start sweating, your feet and hands start slipping in slow motion and you find yourself freaking out clenching all your muscles to keep you from planting your face.
I struggled to be consistent with yoga for exactly this reason; slipping on my mat makes my practice clumsy and unstable. But, I recently joined a gym with tons of yoga classes, so I wanted to figure out how to improve my experience.
I remembered I had some of these grippy Bombas socks in my drawer, so I wore a pair to class and they did an amazing job of keeping me from slipping. I could do my downward dog without interruption and run combinations with much more stability on the mat. They have also been great to wear in barre classes for the same reasons. They never slip or bunch up, and the brand’s signature honeycomb construction around the arch of the foot provides just enough compression to keep the sock in place on my foot.
For what it’s worth, I also love these socks to wear around the house because our newly refinished hardwood floors are a bit slippery. (Note: I wish I had thought of that before I fell down the stairs in regular socks!)
There are other brands that make special socks just for yoga, but I’m a fan of the Bombas because they fit well, last a long time, and I love their mission to give away a pair of socks for every pair purchased. So far, Bombas has donated over 50 million items (mostly socks) to homeless shelters.
