The Walking Dead, the next game in the world of Last Mile, is going to be played exclusively on Facebook. The project is known as a MILE or widely interactive live event. Properly titled Last Mile is part of an ongoing collaboration between a company specializing in such events, Zenvid, and Skybound Entertainment’s narrative team working on The Walking Dead. The game runs on July 11, 2022 with its prologue episode.
“This is the next big installment of the Walking Dead franchise where the story is driven by the fans,” said Janved Jacob Navok, CEO, in a statement. “You impress an ever-evolving coastal Alaskan community through an instant game with daily story content and live interactive streams hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown and Felicia Day.”
The last mile will be held over the next few months and the story will be completely determined by the decisions made by its players. They create a character on Facebook and will be able to participate in various minigames and interactive streams during which they collect influence points, a coin that can be spent on combined choices that influence the narrative. The results of these will be released every week, so that the story can move forward.
The game will earnestly start after the end of the prequel episode at the end of this August. Last Mile currently features three running chapters for each one month. Ending sometime this November, the game will entertain players with “One of the Most Epic Stories in the Walking Dead Universe.”
The Last Mile takes place in the town of Prosper Landing in Alaska. Dividing its characters into cities and nearby power plants, players must determine whether they can all come together to survive in the face of dwindling resources and constant expeditions. The action takes the form of an animated scene every weekend.
According to Zenvid, the one- or two-hour value gameplay “will create enough impact points for you to impact key turning points throughout each week.”
Players can expect some new activities every day, but the real attraction is the ability to influence those combined choices. “We want people to participate a lot and be able to make enough points to make decisions,” Navok noted. “You can send your survivor to an assignment and you can do a cameo inside the stream.”
