Being hunted down by Mr. X in the Resident Evil 2 Remake is unsettling enough, and this mod makes the chase a little scarier.
When the remake of Resident Evil 2 discontinued in 2019, it showed the world a fantastic example of how to take a much-loved classic game and reinvent it for this modern era. Given that the original in the series is one of the most influential horror games of all time, a sequel and sequel remake, plus the two new entries, show that there’s still plenty life in the franchise. One of the things the second game remake is memorable for is Mr. X appearing at random intervals, and a modder decided to make those sequences more unsettling.
Uploading the file to Nexus Mods, user Raq replaced the model with the chunky M. X in Resident Evil 2 for one of the lanky Wendigo creatures from Supermassive Games’ interactive horror title Until dawn. For anyone who has forgotten how scary they are, the images on the mod page show how horrifying the creatures are, and seeing them instead of the Tyrant just chases them at various and sometimes unexpected times, a little more terrifying.
Released in 2015, Until dawn was one of the best horror games of the last generation, with Resident Evil 2 remake. It managed to blend the usual tropes of the classic slasher genre and turn it into an interactive story for the PS4. This gave players the chance to take control of a horror movie, tasked with ensuring that all characters survived, with the Wendigo creatures at the heart of the terror.
The description does not say if this mod replaces all aspects of Mr. X or just the model. If the latter, players can still be treated to the booming stomps of Wendigo’s footsteps. There is a lot of Resident Evil 2 mods out there, and while some tweak the game to improve on the original format, others have a habit of replacing aspects with those from different franchises, like the one that puts Darth Vader in place of MX
With the resident Evil The series continues unabated, it is considered the most successful mainstream horror franchise in gaming, showing that it can still find ways to scare even the most experienced gamers. At the moment many people are eagerly awaiting a new entry, but there are also many more who want to see the return of people like Resident Evil 4especially given the quality of the reception Redesign RE2 been.
Resident Evil 2 Remake is available now on PC, PS4 and Xbox One.
