Ranking 2022 NFL Draft Prospects: Safeties

One of the most intriguing stories in the draft is what time (or later) a team will select
Kyle Hamilton of Notre Dame.

Hamilton is my second overall prospect, and he’s often made fun of inside the
top five picks. That said, safeties aren’t usually the top five picks. from Hamilton
worse-than-expected 40-yard timed dashes could give offices another reason
not to deviate from this historical trend at the top of the project.

In the past three decades or so, three safeties have been drafted with a top five
picks—Eric Turner (second, 1991), Sean Taylor (fifth, 2004), and Eric Berry (fifth,
‘ten).
