Pokemon Fan Artist Draws More Pokemon in the Style of Lilo and Stitch

It is well established that the Pokemon fandom is one of the most artistically creative fan bases of just about anything in the world. This is regularly proven by the many Pokemon fan art creations that create enough buzz to make headlines, including this one. While internet attention can be fleeting, one fan currently manages to hold it with his impressive Pokemon designs made in the style of Disney classics lilo and stitch.

Known by the username u/Troytheartboy, the Pokemon fan made headlines a few weeks ago for his incredibly creative cartoon series featuring a variety of Pokemon drawn in the style of lilo and stitch. The artwork included popular characters such as Charmander, Sandslash, and Cyndaquil with features resembling experiences from the franchise, such as the titular Stitch or TV series fan favorite Reuben.

About a month later, u/Troytheartboy is back with an all-new series of Pokémon drawn in the same lilo and stitch artistic style. As with the previous batch, each of the Pokémon has been restyled with experimental features. One of the most notable differences is the eyes, which replace the respective character’s eyeballs with all-black glowing almond-shaped eyeballs. The overall edges of the Pokemon’s designs have been softened, with appendages, for lack of a better descriptor, “stubbified”. A few examples are included below, and those interested can click here to check out the rest of them.

The new batch of Pokemon The fan art is clearly a hit with fans, garnering hundreds of likes within hours of posting. While Pokemon fan art is abundant, some of this art comes from well-known sources. Mike Mignola, known as the creator of the famous Hellboy comics, drew his own Pokémon in the signature Hellboy artistic style. Do essentially the reverse of the Lilo and Stitch –style designs, Mignola gives Scyther and Omastar a more jagged and demonized look suitable for the Dark Horse Comics series.

While hardly anyone would think of Pokemon with either lilo and stitch or Hellboy, it seems like there’s something inherently interesting about seeing what well-known characters from one franchise would look like in the art style of another. Several months ago, a Super Smash Bros. fan went viral for their artwork of almost the entirety Super Smash Bros Ultimate list in a family guy artistic style. The artwork includes several Pokémon, which subjectively range from hilarious to scary.

Let it be a coincidence Pokemon fan using the art style of another franchise, the artist of another franchise drawing in his own style or a Pokemon artistic creation in its own right, Pokemon fandom continues to cement its artistic dominance in pop culture.
