Luis Suarez’s agent recalls text he received from him making sensational World Cup promise he kept

Luis Suarez promised his agent that he would help Uruguay qualify for the World Cup in November – despite being seventh in their qualifying group at the time.

Uruguay beat Chile 2-0 on Tuesday night to seal third place in CONMEBOL’s World Cup qualifying standings.

The 35-year-old’s rep, Martin Rodriguez, shared a screenshot of a WhatsApp conversation he had with his client towards the end of last year.

Rodriguez asked about qualifying for the World Cup and Suarez replied: “We are entering the SUAREZ ZONE.”

he was telling the truth.

Suarez has scored three goals in Uruguay’s last four qualifiers to propel them up the table.

Only Brazil and Argentina, undefeated throughout qualifying, overtook Diego Alonso’s side.

Rodriguez responded to Suarez’s first messages saying he would save them and added: “After we qualify I will make them go viral.”

Suarez cheekily replied, “I told you so,” later Tuesday with a series of laughing emojis.

It was a suspicious affair in Las Condes, but Chile knew their World Cup dream was already over.

However, Uruguay had everything to play for and victory would see them leapfrog Ecuador in the final standings.

They would make the breakthrough 11 minutes from time thanks to Suarez’s header, making him South America’s all-time top scorer in World Cup qualifying history.

Real Madrid midfielder Valverde grabbed a second right to the death with a colossal effort.

Suarez posed in his full-time match jersey and sent a message to his countrymen and compatriots.

The former Liverpool player said: “Special evening, special match, special shirt and with a goal. What more could you ask for to experience unique and unforgettable moments with MY COUNTRY?”

Ecuador automatically take last place and Peru will face the United Arab Emirates or Australia in June in a play-off.

Countries around the world will now be eagerly awaiting Friday’s group stage draw in Qatar.
