Leaked video shows preschool teacher leading kids to sing ‘we want Biden out’

A private school in California has issued an apology after a video emerged last month that appeared to show a teacher leading a class of young students in a chant that denounced US President Joe Biden.

The video, which was leaked to ABC 7 News in Los Angeles, begins by showing a teacher, whose identity remains unknown, nudging a group of four- and five-year-olds by first asking them a seemingly innocuous question “Who is our president?

The group responds by correctly stating that the president is actually ‘Biden’, but then the teacher’s follow-up question leads the parrot chorus of preschoolers in a different direction when she asks, ‘What do we want? do with him? to which the group responds emphatically, “we want him out!”

Parents at Turning Point Christian School, located in Norco, California, who saw the 8-second video of their children engaging in political chanting were furious.

Christina McFadden, a parent at the school, said the video was first shared through a messaging app designed to keep teachers and guardians up to date with what’s going on in the classroom. It was later deleted, but that didn’t shake the utter sense of ‘shock’ the mum felt watching what she ironically described as her daughter’s ‘first history lesson’.

“I had to watch it a few times to realize, is this really happening?” Ms. McFadden said Eyewitness News.

In a separate interview with the local news station KTLAthe same mother added that the age of the students – a group of preschoolers – heightens their vulnerability to receiving such politically charged content.

“Especially at this age, I don’t even think she can understand to make an informed decision about who and what she should believe.”

Officials at the Southern California private school released a statement to parents, saying they were “sorry for any misunderstandings” stemming from the video.

“Earlier today a video was posted which has since been removed as it did not share our school and church philosophy of honoring and respecting authority, including those in government positions” , the school statement read, according to the AP.

Turning Point, located just outside Los Angeles, offers programs for preschoolers at a rate of $535 (£404) to $940 (£711) per month.
