It’s clear that you should watch “What if…?” » Before “Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness”

Marvel just can’t help it and continues to show more and more clips of Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness ahead of its release early next month. Latest Deal Shows Scarlet Witch Fights Captain Carter:

Wait, who?

Alright, if you haven’t already, Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is a clear indication that you should watch the Disney Plus animated series, What If…? before heading to the theaters.

Already before that, it’s obvious you should watch WandaVision, given that it defines how Wanda gets her Scarlet Witch form for this film. And you might want to watch Loki, which tells how the multiverse opened up in the first place. But now it’s pretty clear that Doctor Strange is also drawing characters in the live action of What If…? the animated series based on the multiverse.

Captain Carter is confirmed, which will no doubt be actress Hayley Atwell, who played Peggy Carter in the Captain America movies and who also voices Carter in What If…? Her story imagines a world where, by misadventure, Peggy obtains the super soldier serum instead of Steve, and her story is woven through a few different episodes of What If…? which culminates in a battle against Ultron who got the Infinity Stones instead of Thanos.

Doctor Strange also clarifies that Doctor Strange’s evil and corrupted variant, Strange Supreme, is a major force in the film, and he was in What If…? moreover, assuming this is the same multiverse version of the character. In the series, Strange summons and absorbs countless demons and horrors to gain the power to try and bring back his lost love Christine, which again seems to be part of the Multiverse of Madness as well, although I don’t not. think we would see a 1:1 recap of this What If…? live episode. But who knows.

The thing is, you really should watch What If…? before heading to theaters if you want more context for these new character variants that are very clearly introduced. The movie shows so much in its clips now that it’s not just leaks and rumors anymore, but confirmations. And, just in case you’re not sure what if…? worth your time, it’s the most beloved Disney Plus Marvel series to date, and critics and fans alike have absolutely loved it. It has also been renewed for a second season, which is expected to see the return of Captain Carter, among others.

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness is out May 6, 2022, so you have until then to catch up if you’re going to be there on opening day.
