Recent Genshin Impact rumors claim that the release date of the upcoming 2.7 version, scheduled for mid-May, may be delayed.
Genshin Impact updates always bring lots of new content, including new playable characters, monsters, and regions to explore. Each update typically lasts around 45 days and is split into two banner cycles that bring limited characters and weapons.
The flow Genshin Impact Version 2.6 brought a new character Ayato along with two banner repeats featuring Venti and Ayaka. According to a couple of Genshin Impact speculations and rumors, the release date of the next 2.7 update may be pushed back.
Genshin Impact Update 2.6 arrived on March 30, which means that according to the game’s usual update schedule, version 2.7 should arrive around mid-May. However, a recent article on the Genshin Impact leaks subreddit hints that the new update might be delayed. The post claims that there are already a few clues that the 2.6 update might stick around a bit longer than expected. A Chinese man Genshin Impact The announcements on Bilibili mention that the Marvelous Merchandise event will be coming after Leyline Overflow which was supposed to be the last event in the update. This confirms that there have been additional changes to the original Hoyoverse plans.
One of the main reasons for this potential delay is likely the current COVID-19 situation in Shanghai, which is apparently having a significant impact on Chinese developer Hoyoverse. However, the message caused a lot of confusion given that the next Ayaka banner is confirmed for three weeks, which is standard for a banner cycle. This means that a third banner will most likely be added after Ayaka, likely featuring one of the standard banner characters.
A similar thing happened during Genshin Impact update 1.3 where Keqing arrived as a filler banner between Xiao and Hu Tao. Diluc would probably be the best choice for this banner given that he’s probably the most popular character in the standard banner with Jean coming second. Developer Hoyoverse has already confirmed the two characters that will arrive in the next Genshin Impact Version 2.7. Yelan and Kuki Shinobu have been mentioned in a lot of rumors over the past couple of months, and it looks like players will finally get the chance to shoot for them.
As for their rarity, Yelan is confirmed to be a five-star character while Kuki should have a lower rarity. Credible Genshin Impact leaks claim that new characters will be split between the two banner cycles, with Yelan’s banner coming first. Kuki Shinobu will apparently arrive alongside another five-star Genshin Impact Itto character, which is symbolic given that they are both members of the Arataki clan.
Genshin Impact is available now for PC, PS4, PS5 and mobile devices. A Switch version is in development.
