Although it has not been seen for a long time, the development of Final Fantasy 16 is progressing well.
Final Fantasy 16 is in its “final stages of development”.
Although it was announced when the PS5 was first revealed in 2020, we haven’t seen the game since then, only hearing small updates from some members of the development team both month. The last time we heard of the game’s development was in October, when Yoshida said the main storyline was “nearly done.”
Thanks to a comment Yoshida found in UNIQLO’s Final Fantasy 35th Anniversary Collection brochure, we now know that the game is much further along now than it was at the end of last year. Translated by aitaikimochiYoshida Naoki, Producer of Final Fantasy 16, said, “We are in the final stages of development for the newest numbered game in the series, Final Fantasy 16. Our goal is to deliver a complete game full of story and gameplay.”
Yoshi-P went on to talk a bit about the plot of the game saying, “Unlike an online game that involves many players at the same time, Final Fantasy 16 offers a different experience where it focuses on the individual player and immerses you in the story I think it’s a very fleshed out story For those who grew up and realized that reality isn’t kind to you and walked away from Final Fantasy, we hope Final Fantasy 16 will be a game that can bring back the passion you once had with the series.”
Considering Yoshida’s comments on Final Fantasy 16 are now near the end of development, and what he had to say about the game late last year, it seems increasingly likely that he could see a launch in 2022. Square Enix was careful not to give any kind of date for the game until it’s close to being finished, but it looks like we’re getting closer to more and more of some sort of grand release date reveal.
