Embarrassing footage shows Bayern Munich TV channel laughing after receiving Villarreal draw

Bayern Munich were forced to eat a significant slice of the humble pie after being knocked out of the Champions League by underdogs Villarreal.

Unai Emery’s side stunned the German giants on Tuesday night, drawing 1-1 at the Allianz Arena to advance to the semi-finals of the competition with a 2-1 aggregate victory.

Trailing 1-0 from the first leg in Spain, Bayern equalized through Robert Lewandowski and appeared to be in full control of the second leg.

But a late goal from Villarreal substitute Samuel Chukwueze would send the visitors into the last four of the competition, where they will face either Liverpool or Benfica.

Villarreal’s Dani Parejo has accused Julian Nagelsmann of disrespecting the Spanish club after the Bayern Munich head coach claimed his side could have come up against a “tougher” opponent in the draw.

“When the draw took place and Villarreal came out, the manager of Bayern, who I don’t know, I think he disrespected us and disrespected football because he wanted to seal the first leg” , said Parejo.

“When you spit in the air, it tends to fall on you.”

Embarrassing footage has now surfaced on Bayern Munich’s official TV channel which apparently shows the club’s complacent attitude towards Villarreal.

After watching the quarter-final draw, the Bayern TV host smiled before telling the club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic: “Let’s put it this way: it’s a very manageable draw.”

Both men then laugh, while Salihamidzic seems to nod in agreement with the host.

Bayern and Nagelsmann are now facing a furious backlash from club fans following the surprise loss, with some supporters calling for the manager to be sacked.

“You are clearly not ready to lead Bayern, and today we paid for it,” one fan wrote on Reddit.

“Even a Bayern coach has to have the Bayern mentality and JN showed that’s not the case.”

Another added: ‘He should be sacked for this. Honestly, I know we go through a lot of coaches, but for a team that’s 7th in La Liga and tied their last game, and will probably be criticized in the next round, it’s pathetic.

“He had all the tools in front of him to do it. He should be fired for that alone.
