Dead By Daylight Board Game Kickstarter Now Live, Beats Pledge Goal Already

For many in the horror community, especially those who stream content, Dead in broad daylight is a continuous source of gaming entertainment. With Sadako’s Uprising Ringu DLC released recently, the mix of online co-op survival with villains and movie monsters still proves to be a winning formula with a dedicated fan base. It’s so popular that a team is working to bring it into the board game realm. With the Kickstarter campaign now live, the page has already managed to achieve its goal.


According to the Kickstarter page, the developers of the board game version of Dead in broad daylight, known as Level 99 Games, hoped to raise $250,000 to fund the project. With 22 days ahead and the counter still rising, the pledge is currently at $337,556 at the time of writing, meaning it has managed to top the initial amount by almost $100,000. The developer behind the adaptation is a team from New Mexico and is responsible for creating a series of board games, such as BattleCON, Millennium Blades, Go beyond the combat systemand more.

Much like the video game’s source material, players will be able to take on the role of either a survivor or the killer. Using “movement maps”, players will have to explore the map to search for generators while avoiding the killer. Currently, there are seven survivor characters and six killer characters. At this time, it doesn’t appear that this release has any of the horror movie villains licensed. We hope that the Dead in broad daylight The board game will be released in October, possibly as a Halloween version.

There are many tabletop and board game adaptations, such as Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, To falland even Disco Elysee, showing that a real-world equivalent of some big-name digital titles is something fans appreciate. A post on Level 99 Games’ Kickstarter page indicates that the project is nearing completion and is currently in the process of being approved for “factory prototype”, with a 100-day production process beginning thereafter. Also, gameplay videos will be coming soon.

As one of the best horror games to play online, Dead in broad daylight is enjoyed by millions of people throughout the year, not just on Halloween. Its stealth-based team-play mechanics and ties to popular movie franchises make it an ideal game to stream on places like Twitch. It will be interesting to see if anyone decides to stream the board game adaptation as well once it’s released.

Dead in broad daylight is available for Nintendo Switch, PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Stadia, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
