Biden Admin slows down migrant landings in Texas after governor orders them to DC

Texas officials report that the Biden administration has stopped dropping off freed migrants in many cities across the state following Governor Greg Abbott’s order to begin busing them to Washington, D.C. From the Texas Panhandle to the Rio Grande Valley, Texas city officials have sent requests for state assistance in providing bus transportation to all released migrants who voluntarily wish to travel to the nation’s capital.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) has sent several buses to areas where community leaders have raised concerns about the federal government dropping off migrants in their towns, the TDEM spokesperson said. , Seth Christensen, in a written statement. He said Texas “has the capacity to send as many [buses] as necessary to respond to requests from mayors and county judges.

“From RGV to Terrell County, a large majority of communities who originally requested assistance through this operation have now said the federal government has stopped dropping migrants into their towns since the Governor’s announcement on Wednesday. “, added Mr. Christensen.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott on Wednesday announced the order for state officials to charter buses to transport migrants to Washington, D.C. in response to the Biden administration’s plans to end the protective protocol against Title 42 coronaviruses and begin large-scale mass releases, Breitbart Texas reported.

“To help local officials whose communities are overwhelmed by hordes of illegal immigrants who are dropped off by the Biden administration, Texas is providing charter buses to send these illegal immigrants who have been dropped off by the Biden administration to Washington, D.C. DC,” Governor Abbott said at a Wednesday afternoon news conference in Weslaco, Texas. The governor said the first drop-off location would be the steps of the U.S. Capitol in the nation’s capital. He added that bus rides are completely voluntary from the migrant perspective.

“We are taking them to the United States Capitol where the Biden administration can more immediately respond to the needs of the people it allows to cross our border,” the governor added. The Governor signed the letter to TDEM Chief Nim Kid ordering the action.

“Texans have a backbone and a will to secure our border,” Abbott said. “Two things Joe Biden doesn’t have.”

In addition to the bus program, the governor also announced that the state will begin enhanced security inspections of commercial vehicles crossing the border from Mexico.

“A zero-tolerance policy for unsafe vehicles for migrant smuggling across the border is being implemented immediately,” the governor said.

Breitbart Texas has reached out to DPS officials for initial results from enhanced security inspections. The ministry is not yet ready to release statistical data on the operation at this early date, officials said.

Texas officials also told Breitbart on Saturday that the Texas Military Department and Department of Public Safety have already begun lighting projects in border areas currently used by smugglers to move large groups of migrants through shallow water passages.
