Best Switch screen protector: Keep your Nintendo Switch scratch-free

Nobody gets super excited when the screen protector they ordered arrives from Amazon, but it’s still an incredibly important accessory for many products, including the Nintendo Switch. Even if you never plan to play your Switch in handheld mode, the docking station can scratch the Switch console’s rather sensitive plastic screen. Also, if you have kids at home who will be using the Switch, it will almost certainly be scratched without a screen protector. So when you buy a great Nintendo Switch carrying case, be sure to pair it with a Switch screen protector. In fact, a screen protector is arguably the the most important Nintendo Switch accessory. The best of all? You can get the best Switch screen protectors for around $10 or less. We’ve put together a list of the best Switch screen protectors, including picks for the Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite.

Whether you are looking for a tempered glass protector or a plastic film, make sure you choose the right model. The Nintendo Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite all have different screen sizes.

Best Nintendo Switch Tempered Glass Screen Protector

Nintendo Switch screen protectors come in two styles: tempered glass and plastic. We recommend tempered glass over plastic, as they offer better protection against scratches and tend to hold up much better over time. Tempered glass protectors are also much easier to apply correctly. Plus, all of the options we’ve recommended come with guide stickers and other helpful accessories like cleaning cloths, press cards, and dust collectors to help you through the application process.

There is no shortage of tempered glass screen protectors for Nintendo Switch. We chose three different options. Our favorite tempered glass screen protector is made by amFilm. At 0.3mm thick, it’s thin yet offers great scratch resistance. Although you can tell the protector is on your screen, it’s transparent and not noticeable while reading. The amFilm protector has a 9H hardness rating, making it extremely tough against cracking, even if you drop your console. The amFilm tempered glass screen protector is available in Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite sizes in two- and three-packs.

For a slightly thinner option, check out Orzly’s Tempered Glass Screen Protector for Nintendo Switch and Switch Lite. It measures only 0.24 mm, which makes it even less visible than amFilm’s protector. Orzly’s Switch screen protectors come in packs of two. In the meantime, if you have youngsters around you might want to opt for the Supershieldz 0.33mm Tempered Glass Protector. it has a hydrophobic and oleophobic coating to fight stains and sweat marks. Supershieldz tempered glass protectors are available in two-packs and three-packs for Switch, Switch OLED, and Switch Lite.

Best Plastic Screen Protectors for Nintendo Switch

Some people can’t stand the look of glass screen protectors. Even ultra-thin ones tend to add bulk to a screen. If you’re in that camp, a plastic screen protector for your Nintendo Switch might be a better option. Although plastic screen protectors do not stand the test of time as well as tempered glass protectors, they are less visible on the screen. It must be said that plastic screen protectors, just like the plastic screen of the Switch, are susceptible to scratches. You might end up buying multiple plastic protectors for your Switch over time.

For the standard Nintendo Switch, we recommend the Maxboost plastic screen protector. At only 0.1mm thick, you probably won’t even be able to tell it’s there if applied correctly. While applying some plastic screen protectors is a more difficult undertaking, you get three chances with this Maxboost set.

Switch and Switch Lite owners can also opt for Hori’s Protective Filter, an officially licensed PET plastic option from Nintendo. The Hori Screen Protector is easier to apply than most plastic screen protectors because you just line it up and peel off the sticker. You only get one screen protector for Switch or Switch Lite, but if you follow the instructions, you should be fine with this one.

For the Switch OLED, there aren’t many plastic options so far, but Supershieldz has an anti-glare PET film protector. The PET film helps the screen retain its natural feel, and the anti-reflective coating is a nice touch when gaming while exposed to natural sunlight.
