Arkham Knight Player Discovers Red Hood Reference At Panessa Studios After Completing The Story

An interesting and surprising reference awaits Batman: Arkham Knight players returning to Panessa Studios after beating the story.

Batman: Arkham Knight‘s Panessa Studios holds much of Gotham City’s rich history. After the events of Batman: Arkham Cityit is learned that Batman and several individuals were affected by Joker’s blood, which was also tainted by the TITAN formula introduced in Batman: Arkham Asylum and Joker’s cause of death.

Narratively, the first abandoned movie studio serves as Batman’s base of operations where he keeps these individuals captive in order to determine a cure. In gameplay, the studios offer an elaborate level where Batman and Robin take out these individuals as they go on a rampage, but one of the individuals, Henry Adams, murders the others after finally exhibiting his suppressed symptoms. Panessa Studios left shortly after, but there is considerable narrative reference in Batman: Arkham Knight to see there if players return once the story is finished.

YouTuber GoodPerson is the latest Batman: Arkham Knight player to experience a reference that players would have only witnessed had they decided to spontaneously return to Panessa Studios after the conclusion of the main narrative. In the event of a return, Panessa Studios will have a large red bat symbol engraved on the floor between the patient cells, the patient corpses, and the Batcomputer. This explicitly states that Jason Todd was there and offers some context as to how he knew Batman had been taken by Scarecrow in Batman: Arkham Knightthe third act.

Players learn that Joker had kidnapped Jason and tortured him through Batman’s hallucinations at the studio, which is surprising since Jason is not mentioned once in the trilogy prior to these hallucinations. As Batman finally reaches out to him after their climactic battle, Jason drops his Arkham Knight persona at the end of Batman: Arkham Knight and takes on the nickname Red Hood, where the red symbol becomes his new insignia.

When Batman is transported to the ruins of Arkham Asylum, Alfred mentions to Batman that someone is tracking him, which Batman says he predicted. This reference in Panessa Studios then supports the theory that Jason tracked him from Panessa Studios’ Batcomputer and tracked him to the asylum.

In the same room at Panessa Studios, GoodPerson examines Robin’s shurikens and broken staff, which become part of a visual puzzle when scanned into Detective Vision. GoodPerson also interacts with Harley Quinn sitting in one of the cells to show that she has no new dialogue regarding Red Hood’s visit. This has no impact on Batman: Arkham KnightRocksteady Studios’ story after the fact, but it depicts Rocksteady Studios’ attention to detail and adds even more context and connections through each one.
