2022 WNBA Draft results: Rhyne Howard becomes No. 1 for Dream; notes, analysis for each choice

The 2022 WNBA Draft is finally here, and for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic, the event will be held in person in New York City. Selected players will once again be able to take the stage, receive a jersey and meet WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert.

After the Atlanta Dream pulled off a blockbuster trade to acquire the No. 1 overall pick, the Dream selected Rhyne Howard. NaLyssa Smith and Shakira Austin followed at numbers 2 and 3, respectively. It’s class deep, but there’s not much separation between a group of a dozen players, which should make for an interesting evening. Here are the biggest needs and best fits for each team.
